Holy Eucharist
Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist through religious education in either CPOP Elementary School or in the Parish School of Religion classes. Adults involved in The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will prepare for and receive this Sacrament concurrently when Baptized (see above).
Celebration of the Holy Eucharist takes place during the following Mass times:
"Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life and worship, members of those Churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provision of canon law" (Canon #844,4).
Reconciliation
Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation through religious education in either CPOP Elementary School or in the Parish School of Religion classes. Adults involved in The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will prepare for and receive this Sacrament concurrently when Baptized (see above).
From 4:00-4:45pm each Saturday, a priest is available in the confessional. Any of the priests will be happy to arrange a personal time for Reconciliation, please call the rectory at 636-391-1307 for an appointment.
Confirmation
Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation through religious education in either CPOP Elementary School or in the Parish School of Religion classes. Adults involved in The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will prepare for and receive this Sacrament concurrently when Baptized (see above). For youth, this is a 2-year preparation program. Normally it takes place in the spring of 8th grade and preparation begins in 7th grade.
Marriage
The Bishops of Missouri have established a policy that all couples wishing to celebrate this sacrament are to notify the parish at least six months prior to their proposed date. This will allow sufficient time for the couple to complete the required FOCCUS survey, to attend the pre-marriage programs and to prepare a proper celebration of the sacrament. Only after to process has begun will the date be entered as definite in the parish calendar. The Church presumes that at least one partner in the marriage is a practicing Catholic. The parish also has its own guidelines that must be followed.
Annulments - Often, individuals are not fully participating in the life of the Church because of divorce and remarriage. Others, civilly divorced, have questions regarding the previous marriage. Any of the parish priests will happily meet to discuss the status and possibilities of these situations. Please call the rectory at 636-391-1307.
Annointing of the Sick
This sacrament is primarily intended for any who suffer from serious or chronic physical or emotional illness or who struggle with the infirmities of age. The Church does not anoint one who has already died. One need not be in danger of death to receive this sacrament. Those scheduled for a surgery or a serious hospital stay may wish to request this sacrament prior to entering the hospital.
In case of death - Although the Church does not anoint one who has already died, priests may be invited to minister to the family and lead the prayers at the time of death as provided by the Church.
For parents of a stillborn or naturally aborted infant - The Archdiocese has provided a beautiful ritual for this difficult moment. Please contact one of our priests at 636-391-1307.
Holy Orders
In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, or Ordination, the priest being ordained takes vows to lead other Catholics by bringing them the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming the Gospel, and by providing other means to holiness. If you are interested or have questions regarding Ordination, please contact one of our priests at 636-391-1307.
